Manurewa High helps build new Ara compound

Last week we spent our Thursday building and setting up the Ara space in the new airport village construction compound. About 15 Manurewa High school students who are part of the Ara work experience programme got together with staff from Ara, Auckland Airport and subbies from the build to help with the expansion of the Ara premises.

Thankfully the weather held out and we got everything done - ready for the Ara staff to settle in and start running training sessions, workshops, meetings with employers, interviews and more! We had a morning tea and a big BBQ for lunch to keep the guys and the gals going, and even got a surprise visit from the airport fire engine (pictured). Collaboration is powerful and continues to be the driving force behind Ara's success. Fa'afetai lava to everyone involved. Feel free to drop in for a cuppa anytime!

"I applied for 100 jobs in the space of 12 months. To meet the Ara team and get a job in three days is just amazing."
